Book lover, educator, life-long learner
About Me
An educator with over 20 years’ experience, I have taught extensively across the Primary age range and spent over a decade coordinating and developing curriculum in schools from Early Years to Grade 12.
Passionate about learning and working with fellow educators and parents to bring curricula to life, a particular joy has always been finding inspiring nonfiction books that stimulate children’s minds, promote wonderings and lead to further inquiry. There is nothing quite like seeing children of all ages sat on the floor, in chairs, on sofas, or draped across desks looking through a stack of nonfiction books, excitedly sharing new facts. The thoughts, discussions and ensuing learning that takes place from these impromptu exchanges are often as rich, if not richer, than some of the most carefully considered lesson plans!
Purpose and Aim
The purpose of this site is to highlight some of the amazing non-fiction texts that are out there for learners of all ages, making your life easier as you look for resources to support your students’ or child’s learning.
The aim is to provide a selection of books across subject areas and common themes studied, supporting class, homeschool and homework assignments. From pop-up books to the use of infographics to the incorporation of QR codes, non-fiction books provide a tactile and engaging way to draw readers in and expand their minds; not to mention the often stunning illustrations that make so many of these books works of art in themselves.
